january ′11 SPEAR’S Russia Editor-in-Chief Recommends Latvia

Since 1 January 2011, Latvia has doubled state guarantees on bank deposits. From now on a client of any Latvian bank in case of its failure is entitled to receiving up to €100,000 from the Latvian state, which is twice as much as the previous limit. In case if the deposit does not exceed this amount, the client will be compensated for in full. These guarantees are offered to all clients of Latvian banks including citizens of Russia and other CIS countries.

The winners of SPEAR’S Russia Wealth Management Awards were announced on 25 November in Moscow. It is the only Russian Award in private banking & wealth management industry. Russian and international banks and firms providing services to HNWIs from Russia.

VTB24 Private Banking was named Russian Private Bank of the Year. HSBC Private Bank was selected Foreign Private Bank of the Year providing services to HNWIs in Russia. Bank Julius Baer & Co. was distinguished for being the best foreign private bank servicing wealthy Russians outside the country. Third Rome received the Asset Management Firm of the Year award.

The Organizing Committee of SPEARS Russia Wealth Management Awards 2010 started forming the list of industry experts who will vote to determine nominee short-lists in every nomination. SPEAR’S Russia magazine in cooperation with PBWM.ru are pleased to announce the start of the preparatory stage of SPEAR’S Russia Wealth Management Awards 2010, which will be held on 25 November 2010 at Vetoshny Center in Moscow to celebrate the achievements of professionals and firms from private banking, wealth management and related industries for their successes, innovations and acumen over 2009-2010. july ′10 SPEAR'S Russia Editor-in-Chief to Introduce Russian Painter in Riga

Alexandr Gafin, SPEAR’S Russia editor-in-chief, helped to organize an exhibition of a Russian painter Vladimir Lemport. The exhibition will be opened on July, 30 in the exhibition hall of Latvia’s largest private bank, ‘Rietumu Banka’.
The exhibition is to introduce approx. 60 works of the painter: ceramic and bronze sculptures, pastel and China-ink graphics. The works were created in 1980-1900s.

The Organizing Committee of SPEAR’S Russia Wealth Management Awards 2009 is pleased to announce the full list of nominees (long list) in each nomination, which is available for review at the official website of the Awards: http://awards.spearsrussia.ru/awards/nominees

The list of nominees was formed based on the information received form the market participants through the Awards website, as well as on recommendations by the Chairman of the Awards Judging Panel – SPEAR’S Russia Editor-in-Chief Alexander Gafin – and the editorial staff of SPEAR’S Russia magazine.

According to the Awards Methodology, during the second round the Organizing Committee will be collecting votes of professionals from private banking, wealth management and related industries in order to determine short lists of nominees in every category. The final short list will then be presented to the members of the judging panel who will vote to determine the winners of SPEAR’S Awards 2009. Votes by peers as well as by the members of the judging panel will be monitored by PricewaterhouseCoopers as the Independent Consultant.

The winners of SPEAR’S Russia Wealth Management Awards 2009 will be announced at the Awards Ceremony, which will take place on November 26, 2009 in Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow hotel. The Awards Ceremony will be hosted by Ivan Urgant.

Official partners of SPEAR’S Russia Wealth Management Awards 2009 are Land Rover, Legenda and Sobranie. Partners are Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow, Tissura and Lindt.

june ′09 SPEAR’S & CARTIER CHARITY EVENT, LOVE DAY CELEBRATION

On June 16 in Moscow’s Ararat Park Hyatt SPEAR’S Russia hosted the charity event in support of Give Life Charity Foundation. The event held under The Beatles’ famous “All You Need Is Love” motto was dedicated to LOVE Day Cartier in Russia. As part of the event, the exhibition of English bulldog statuettes from the private collection of SPEAR’S Russia Editor-in-Chief Alexander Gafin was organized.

Cartier participated as the General Partner of the event. Official Partners were Jaguar Land Rover Russia and International Financial Club Bank. Partners were Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow, Business FM, Kauffman and Fauchon.

With the help of the organizers, the publishers of SPEAR’S Russia – PBWM Media and MEDIACRAT – the overall donation raised for the Give Life Charity Foundation programs exceeded 1,000,000 rubles. Over 300 celebrities and representatives of media and business establishment of Russia visited the event. Chulpan Khamatova was the special guest.

The SPEAR'S Wealth Management Awards were held on 29 September in London to honour the best private bankers, wealth managers, lawyers and premium brands of 2008, as well as to celebrate the launch of the Russian edition of SPEAR’S WMS. Over 500 private banking & wealth management industry professionals as well as UK’s richest individuals gathered at Sotheby’s in London’s Mayfair to take part in the ceremony.

Along with the awards the guests also enjoyed the premiere showing of the SPEAR’S video advertising featuring UK’s former Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The first issue of the Russian edition of SPEAR'S WMS magazine, the award-winning quarterly for High Net Worth individuals, was launched in Moscow in September 2008. The first issue of the Russian edition of SPEAR'S WMS magazine, the award-winning quarterly for High Net Worth individuals, was launched in Moscow in September 2008.

The corresponding license agreement for publication of SPEAR’S Russian Edition in Russia was signed by Luxury Publishing Ltd. (London, UK) and Private Banking & Wealth Management Media represented by Alexander Gafin in partnership with MEDIACRAT Publishing.
